Oral Minoxidil is a prescription tablet containing minoxidil, the same active ingredient as the over-the-counter topical product Rogaine. The difference is in the delivery — Oral Minoxidil is taken as a daily tablet rather than applied to the scalp.

- It works systemically. Because you're taking it orally, it reaches all hair follicles in the body via the bloodstream — not just where you'd apply a topical. This is both an advantage (more comprehensive coverage of scalp follicles) and a consideration (potential for unwanted hair growth on the body).
- It's a once-daily tablet. Much simpler to remember and apply than topical Minoxidil, which requires consistent application to the scalp twice a day.
- It's compounded by a state-licensed pharmacy in the specific low doses used for hair loss, since standard manufactured Minoxidil tablets are made at the higher blood-pressure doses.
